Homemade Applesauce...better than the Can!

I Love Fall and I Love Apples...so I decided to make some homemade Applesauce to celebrate;)

This little contraption is the BOMB when it comes to peeling and slicing and coring an apple, makes the job that much easier. So start by taking 3 to 4 lbs of apples, I used Gala and Fuji, peel, slice and take out the core.
Place the apples in a pot and add 1 cup of water

Then cut four strips of the lemon peel and the juice of one lemon and add to the pot.

Add 3/4 to 1 cup of sugar, depending on how sweet you want it, and 1 tsp of cinnamon. Bring everything to a boil and then let simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.

When it's finished remove the lemon peels and mash down with a potato masher if you like it more chunky or run it through a processor if you prefer it to be more smooth.

Ta da....It is so yummy and you can freeze the leftovers in Ziploc freezer bags up to a year!
